Sorry, No Riots in India
If you happen to come across reports of rioting in India, don't believe them; not yet, anyway. One online news source, reporting on the call for a hunger strike by a small group of Indian Catholics, slapped a bogus headline on the article, calling the incident a riot. Knowing how things propagate on the internet, I rather imagine you might see that headline repeated elsewhere.
But I checked the facts, such as they are, and no riot has yet been reported.

Hello! My post attempted to distinguish between relatively small and peaceful protests and riots, that's all -- reflecting my feeling that the headline was misleading. According to dictionary definitions of "riot": 1. A wild or turbulent disturbance created by a large number of people. 2. (Law) A violent disturbance of the public peace by three or more persons assembled for a common purpose.
The Indian protests were, apparently, neither wild, turbulent or violent. So I think the use of the term "riot" is sensationalist and inaccurate.
